it started with a loss. it became a legacy.

in 2013, a tragic accident shattered our family. our mike - son, brother, passionate conservationist and wild soul - was gone. our lives changed forever on that day, and not a single one of us will ever stop missing him.

but grief has a funny way of finding its direction. as a family, we've always chosen to look for the light. and so, out of the hardest thing we've ever faced, something beautiful started to take shape: a fund in mike's name, dedicated to the conservation of the africa he so deeply loved.

a year after we lost him, i got an elephant tattoo on his birthday. that ellie became the face of ellie & may - and the beating heart of the mcmillan conservation fund.

this is our mike's legacy. this is what keeps him marching forward.

what we do

the mcmillan conservation fund (TMCF) exists to raise awareness and funds for the conservation of africa's precious wildlife.

we believe that conservation isn't won on a single front. it's won in the hearts of the next generation. it's won in classrooms and on game drives and in the wide eyes of a child seeing an elephant for the very first time.

that's why every rand raised through the TMCF goes directly to the people doing exactly that work.

our partner: lessons in conservation

TMCF proudly supports Lessons in Conservation - a registered NPC and one of africa's most impactful youth-led conservation organisations.

LiC goes directly into rural communities and schools, delivering hands-on conservation education that makes children fall in love with the natural world. they don't just teach facts - they build a connection. the kind of connection that turns a child into a lifelong protector of africa's wild spaces.

since 2018, they have reached 12 000+ children across 110 organisations and schools in 11 african countries.

that's 12 000 little hearts that now know why the elephant matters. why the rhino matters. why they matter to africa's future.
